Just in: Christmas just got more soulful, thanks to Jazmine Sullivan. The R&B virtuoso, who recently was named as a performer at the 2020 Soul Train Awards, is the latest artist to be featured in the Spotify Singles series. She released a deeply rich version of the holiday carol “The First Noel.”
With the spirit of giving in mind, Sullivan gives one of the best vocal performances on this roasted chestnut, effortlessly sounding like a mélange of anointed voices on a choir the Sunday before Christmas.
“The First Noel” follows Sullivan’s one-off single “Lost One.” The song, released in August, was performed acoustically by Sullivan following its arrival.
Reality Show was Sullivan’s last studio album. Released in 2015, the Grammy-nominated work was featured on Rated R&B’s 50 best R&B albums of the 2010s list.
