VanJess has been nothing if not consistent since the release of their return single “Come Over” in July. Two standout tracks later, the sister duo takes time to “Slow Down” with their latest single.
Here, it’s hard to tell if the heat of the sultry number about a lucid and steady love is coming from the indulging warmth of their voices or the velvety tone of the saxophone. Either way, “Slow Down” is a song worth spinning repeatedly.
“Slow Down” follows their cover of Zhané’s ‘90s classic “Groove Thang” and the impressive “High & Dry.” The two performed the latter track as a part of their Homegrown Sessions series.
This fall, VanJess was sampled and had their live vocals attached to the opening track on Xavier Omär’s new album if You Feel. The pair also collaborated with Sinéad Harnett for her new single “Stickin’” featuring Masego.
