SZA is choosing to feed herself empowering thoughts after a failed relationship on her new song “Good Days.”
The supernova’s bleak voice is netted through snippets of gentle outdoor noises such as birds chirping, as well as earthy guitar playing. The lyrics themselves capture the unpleasant moments that come with overcoming the painful experience of a breakup. Instead of allowing the regrets to overtake her mind again, SZA chooses to use them to fuel her optimism that better times will come.
“Good Days” comes three months after the release of her Ty Dolla $ign-assisted return single “Hit Different.” The song currently rests in the top 10 region on the urban radio chart.
This year, SZA joined forces with Justin Timberlake to contribute a song (“The Other Side”) to the Trolls World Tour movie soundtrack.
Ctrl was SZA’s last album. She is reportedly working on a follow-up to the Grammy-nominated work.
