If visibility were an artist, Givēon would fit the bill. Days after releasing a tense, acoustic video for his When It’s All Said and Done track “Still Your Best,” the bold R&B leader accepted an invite from NPR Music to play their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.
For his debut performance, Givēon, sporting a black leather jacket and oversized white shirt, assembles an all-Black band to run through cuts from his two solid EPs.
Opening the three-song set with “The Beach,” the passionate performer explained how special it is to be rocking out with Tiny Desk during not only Black History Month but also during Pisces season.
With black-and-white images of Black creatives plastered against the brick backdrop, Givēon, and his backing vocalist and artist RaVaughn, go into his certified-gold single “Like I Want You.”
He capped his set with a stellar rendition of “Stuck On You” from his latest EP.
In the past few weeks, Givēon picked up his first top 10 single (“Like I Want You”) on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart and made Rated R&B’s 11 R&B Artists to Watch in 2021 list.
Next month at the 2021 Grammys, the gold-selling artist is hoping to take home the Best R&B Album trophy for his Take Time EP. The project won acclaim from Rated R&B as one of the 30 best R&B albums of 2020.
