Kandi Burruss continues to collect accolades. The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter was honored with the Humanitarian Award at the 10th annual Pure Heat Community Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. The event was held on Sunday (Sept. 4) as part of Atlanta Black Pride Weekend.
Burruss went to Instagram to express her gratitude for receiving the award. “Thank you @pureheatcommunityfestival for presenting me with the 2022 Humanitarian Award! It was awesome to feel the love from so many people especially in the rain,” Burruss wrote.
She added, “@dagreatdjm @rashadburgess @bishopocallen & @mrglamrocksoul thank you for seeing me & recognizing me for the work I’ve been doing in the community! Much love to @realmissnatalienunn who also received an award! & I was happy to see my boy @dyllonburnside. @pureheatcommunityfestival was an awesome event as usual!”

The Pure Heat Community Festival is a cultural event that includes market and food vendors, national and local performers, entertainment, educational forums and more — all to bring together the spirit of community, pride and vision.
This year’s event featured appearances from actor/singer Jussie Smollett, actor/singer Dyllón Burnside, political leader Stacey Abrams and many others. Smollett received the inaugural Alvin Ailey Trailblazer Award.
“Thank you @pureheatcommunityfestival for presenting me this weekend with the 2022 Alvin Ailey Trailblazer Award. It was raining and hot all at the same time but that didn’t stop the love,” he wrote in an Instagram caption.
Circling back to Burruss, she most recently teamed with fellow Xscape member Tiny to release their response track (“If U Get Caught“) to dvsn’s provocative single “If I Get Caught.”
“Ladies, we couldn’t let #dvsn get away with that toxic ass song #IfIGotCaught! So me & @majorgirl had to pull out our pen & represent for the ladies,” Kandi wrote in an Instagram caption.
In June, Burruss shared her unreleased duet with the later Gerald Levert titled “It’s You.” The two wrote and recorded the beautiful tune in 2003. The song was later teased during season 13 of Real Housewives of Atlanta — episode five, to be exact.
