“Falling For You” will mark Ashanti’s first solo single since 2021’s “235 (2:35 I Want You),” which she dropped after her Verzuz celebration with Keyshia Cole.

According to Verzuz, their celebration garnered more than 8 million viewers across multiple platforms, including Instagram and Apple Music.

A week after Verzuz, Ashanti followed up with an accompanying video directed by JaQuel Knight.

It’s been eight years since Ashanti last released an album. Braveheart boasted appearances from Jeremih, Rick Ross and French Montana.

Since then, the New York native has released standalone singles, including “Let’s Go” (2015); “Say Less” featuring Ty Dolla $ign (2017); and “Pretty Little Thing” featuring Afro B (2019).

In 2018, Ashanti teased an EP that she was working on in an interview with Paper Magazine. “I’ve had conversations about there being a real void for true, soul-touching R&B, and that’s what I feel I’m accomplishing with this record,” she told the publication.

Aside from her solo music, Ashanti has been keeping busy with a few collaborations. She appears on Diddy and Bryson Tiller’s “Gotta Move On (Queens Remix)” with rap act Yung Miami.

She also teamed with rappers Moneybagg Yo (“Wockesha [Remix]”) and Joyner Lucas (“Fall Slowly”), among others.
