Singer-songwriter KIRBY has released a thoughtful new song, “Take Care,” and there’s much to digest.
Evoking a lot of thought with a few words, KIRBY sends a clear message not to neglect and be good to yourself, even when providing for your village.
“I hope this song brings you peace. I hope you put it on after a long day. I hope you play it during your Sunday Self Care routine. I hope it feels like therapy. Prayer even. I hope it prompts you to love yourself. And heal your trauma. And most importantly .. to Take Care,” KIRBY wrote on Instagram.
“Take Care” follows KIRBY’s third offering this year, “Pineapple Cognac,” released on July 22.
Her two other tracks, “New D” and “Black Leaves,” were shared throughout the first half of 2022.
The latter tune was featured as the theme song for ABC’s limited series Women of the Movement, which premiered in the winter.

Earlier this year, KIRBY went overseas on tour with Leon Bridges and supported her 2021 album, Sis. He Wasn’t the One.
The ten-track release, the sequel to 2020’s Sis, featured the singles “Boyz II Men” and “Break Her Heart for Me.”
In late 2021, Sis. He Wasn’t the One was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021.
“KIRBY marries sounds of funk, Afrobeat and bonafide soul to create a captivating love letter to women who have been done dirty in relationships,” wrote Rated R&B’s Anders Hare in his year-end blurb.
