Update: According to Mariah Carey’s website, the vinyl is now sold out.
Global R&B superstar Mariah Carey has announced a vinyl reissue of her 2020 album, The Rarities. The previously sold-out 4LP vinyl will be available again on March 10.
According to Carey’s official artist store, the compilation is priced at $94.98.
The Rarities appeared in October 2020 as part of Carey’s MC30 campaign.
The album, divided into two discs, included one side of previously unreleased material while the second half featured Carey’s entire concert at Tokyo Dome in 1996 during her Daydream era.
“I found stuff in my vault that I had either started to work on a long time ago and never released, or that I wanted to finish mixing,” Carey said. “There are songs that are previously not had been released. It’s a monumental occasion for my career.”
She added, “I truly feel like this album ties together so many defining eras of my life and my journey as an artist. I hope you enjoy reliving the splendor with me.”
The fan favorites included in the first half were “Save The Day,” featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill and “Slipping Away.”
The Rarities debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard 200 the week that ended Oct. 17, 2020. It also launched at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
That same year, The Rarities was recognized on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020 list as its inaugural honorable mention.
Carey’s vinyl announcement for The Rarities comes behind her Christmas domination with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The 12x multi-platinum selling track now has spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any seasonal tune since it reached the summit late in 2019.
Last year, Carey released a special 25th-anniversary edition of her 1997 album, Butterfly.

The extended album included the songs from the original album as well as remixes, unreleased acapellas and live recordings. Brandy appears on a retooled rendition of “The Roof,” which she discussed in a Rated R&B earlier that year.
“I can tell you the experience was so beautiful. She’s breathtaking, number one. She has a beautiful soul,” Brandy told Rated R&B. “When I was in the booth, doing whatever she wanted to do, it was just beautiful to be coached by her. I loved working with her. That was a dream come true.”
On May 6, Carey will perform at the 2023 Lovers & Friends Festival. The one-day event, presented by Usher, will be held at Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Las Vegas, Nevada.
