Louis York, the duo composed of Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, has released their new single “Heaven Bound” with Jessie J.
“Heaven Bound” is as divine as the title suggests, with Claude and Jessie singing their faces off over a tropical production. “If you wanna know when, right now / Don’t you leaving me hanging with my feet on the ground / Baby, don’t look down / Take me to another level / I wanna be heaven bound,” they sing on the sanguine tune.
“We have a BIG history of hit-making with Jessie J,” Louis York tells Rated R&B about their collaboration. “We have topped the charts, broken records and made the world dance several times over. Louis York paired with one of the best singers on the planet is a force of nature. ‘Heaven Bound’ shows the best of all three of us. This duet is from the heart. It’s soulful, anthemic and undeniable.”
Louis York says “Heaven Bound” is a perfect introduction to their upcoming sophomore album, Songs With Friends.
“Heaven Bound” is the follow-up to Louis York’s 2022 tracks “Strawberry Skies” and “It Is What It Is.” The songs were tied to their previously announced project Healing Feeling. It’s unclear if either track, or 2021’s “Headphones,” will appear on Songs With Friends, though highly unlikely.
Songs With Friends will follow their 2019 debut album, American Griots. “We really wanted to highlight the fact that black people started all of American music — rock & roll, country, R&B, and what people consider pop and jazz,” explained Harmony to Rated R&B in a previous interview about American Griots.
“Part of our mission was to talk about the history of music and the influence we had on all genres of music. In order to do that, you have to show and prove.”
