Babyface is holding on. His latest single “As a Matter of Fact” remains atop Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for a fourth consecutive week, extending his lead as the male solo act with the most weeks at No. 1 this year.
By doing so, the song, which Babyface wrote himself and co-produced with Tommy Brown, has now spent the most time at the top of this particular chart during his solo career.
Additionally, “As a Matter of Fact” is Babyface’s second No. 1 to hold the top spot for four straight weeks. The last time he held the top spot for this length of time was in December 2013 with his remorseful duet “Hurt You” with Toni Braxton. The song was featured on their Grammy-winning album, Love, Marriage & Divorce, which was released in 2014.
Babyface achieved his first solo No. 1 hit on the Adult R&B chart in 26 years earlier this month with “As a Matter of Fact.”
Elsewhere, “As a Matter of Fact” retains ownership of the No. 1 position at R&B radio for a fourth week. As a result, Tyrese’s latest track “Don’t Think You Ever Loved Me” is still being prevented from reaching the top spot.
Released in February, “As a Matter of Fact” marked Babyface’s first solo offering under P Music Group. There have been no announcements regarding whether this song will be included in a future project’s tracklist.
When it comes to Babyface’s recent projects, the latest one was Girls Night Out in October 2022 under Capitol Records. The set was stacked with collaborations from Kehlani, Ella Mai, Ari Lennox, Queen Naija, Muni Long, and more.
While Girls Night Out won praise at year-end by Rated R&B, the album’s lead single, “Keeps On Fallin'” with Mai, landed a Best Traditional R&B Performance nomination at the 65th Grammy Awards. It marked Babyface’s 50th career nomination.
In addition to releasing music, Babyface is currently doing a lot of live performances throughout the country. You can check out his official website to see if he’s scheduled to perform in your area.
