Editor’s Note: Kelly Rowland will no longer be performing at Artscape. Anderson .Paak will now headline Friday, Sept. 22.
After a three-year hiatus, Artscape, a free arts festival, will return to Baltimore, Maryland, from Sept. 22 through Sept. 24.
Kelly Rowland has been announced as the headlining act. The legendary singer will grace the main stage on Friday night. Additional performers over the weekend include Nile Rodgers & CHIC (Saturday afternoon), Angelo Moore of Fishbone (Saturday evening), and The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (Sunday).
“Artscape is one of Baltimore’s most iconic events, and its return this year is a marker of how our city is bouncing back after the pandemic,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott in a statement. “Baltimore is a town full to the brim with incredible artists and a rich history supporting our arts community. There is simply no better way to showcase their talent and their importance to our city than through Artscape. I cannot wait to welcome the incredible lineup of artists, performers, and vendors and the thousands of Baltimoreans and visitors who will get to enjoy this experience.”
Todd Yuhanick, interim CEO for Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to bring Artscape back to Baltimore. The level of effort and dedication from our team and partners behind the scenes has been extraordinary, and we continue to work tirelessly to curate an exceptional lineup of artists and programming for this comeback year. We look forward to showcasing how the power of the arts can bring people together September 22–24.”
Circling back to Rowland, she recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of her last album, Talk A Good Game, in June.
The album featured appearances from her fellow Destiny’s Child members Beyoncé and Michelle Williams (“You Changed”), as well as The-Dream, Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa and Kevin Cossom.
Since Talk A Good Game, Rowland has treated fans to several standalone tracks and two EPs (The Kelly Rowland Edition and K).
Music aside, Rowland has also been busy in the world of acting. Last year, she starred in the Paramount+ original movie Fantasy Football and Netflix’s The Curse of Bridge Hollow.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Rowland will star in Tyler Perry’s upcoming Netflix legal drama film, Mea Culpa, and will reprise her role as Jacquie in Lifetime’s original movie Merry Liddle Christmas Vacation.
