Tone Stith keeps the heat coming. The rising singer and songwriter has shared a new song, “I Need You,” which was produced by Kenneth “KP” Paige.
On the track, Stith realizes his faults in a ended relationship. He can’t stop thinking about his ex and wants to win back their heart, even considering showing up unannounced.
“Don’t know what you on, babe / But I hope it’s not too late / Already on the way / Forgive me, but that body was callin’ me / Been ringin’ all day / So hard to turn it down,” Stith sings.
Regarding his new single, Stith says, “I’m excited for the world to hear this song, mainly because it’s about not being scared to admit that you love someone. My goal is to bring the world together, one love song at a time.“
“I Need You” is the second single from Stith’s forthcoming project, P.O.V., which stands for point of view. His previous single, “Girls Like You,” was released June 30. He discussed the backstory of the latter track with Rated R&B earlier this spring.
“It’s my point of view on my first heartbreak,” Sith explained to Rated R&B about the song’s inspiration. “For me, it was a really big deal. I was very green as far as love goes. The first person I was giving my all to, even though it was young love, it was like, ‘I’m here 150%.’ Then when that person stabbed my back, it was like, ‘You messed it up for everybody else. Now I got this evil side of me.”
“Girls Like You” reached No. 1 on iTunes’ R&B Songs chart. It also debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
As mentioned earlier, Stith is preparing for the release of his next EP, P.O.V. It’s slated to arrive this month on RCA Records. The project will follow his 2021 EPs FWM and Still FWM.
“This next project is my point of view on love and the ups and downs in relationships,” Stith told Rated R&B in a May interview.
He added, “[It addresses] things that people are afraid to come out and say ‘cause they feel like it might be too soft or too corny. But for me, there’s a lot of toxic things going on in this world, but I wanna be the guy at the forefront that’s like, ‘Hey. It’s okay to love somebody. It’s okay to care for somebody and bet it all on somebody [even when] you don’t know the outcome.’”
