Queen Naija has enlisted rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again for her new single “No Fake Love.”
On the track, which samples Amerie’s “Why Don’t We Fall In Love,” Naija makes it abundantly clear that she won’t tolerate a partner who isn’t loyal and shares a genuine connection with her.
Naija sings in the first verse: “So many bands I’m runnin’ thru / So much that I wanna do / It’s starting to become so clear me / Need more than love, I need loyalty / I can buy my own, I don’t need a loan / Don’t need no chaperone / I’m already grown.”
In YoungBoy’s verse, he raps from the perspective of a partner who wants that same love demanded to be reciprocated: “How you talk to me bout love and this you show me? / I ain’t whatchu like, then coach me.”
“No Fake Love” arrives with a video directed by Sara Lacombe. The idyllic video, filmed in Miami, shows Naija soaking up the sun at a pool and enjoying fun moments with her friends on a boat. When she’s not in the water, she’s out hanging with YoungBoy and her friends for a night on the town.
Naija’s “No Fake Love” is the follow-up to “Words of Affirmation” and “Let’s Talk About It.”
In 2022, Naija teamed with Big Sean for “Hate Our Love.” The now-gold-certified single peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Naija released her debut album, missunderstood, in 2020. The album included features from Lucky Daye, Kiana Ledé, Jacquees, Lil Durk and more. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
She followed up in April 2021 with the deluxe edition, missunderstood..still. The expanded set included Naija’s Ari Lennox-assisted bop “Set Him Up.”
