Naomi Sharon has released an official music video for “Push” featuring Omah Jay.
Directed by Giancarlo Sanchez, the visual highlights how Sharon’s captivating presence in dance sequences is hard to ignore. It’s more apparent how she stands out in the club scene when Omah Jay raps from atop a ledge.
Discussing the new song, Sharon stated, “‘Push’ shows that where love meets lust, there will be fire. It is a sensual ode to your sacral chakra.”
“Push” is from Sharon’s debut album, Obsidian, released Oct. 20 via OVO Sound.
The 13-track album charted the aftermath of a painful breakup and was recorded at a time when Sharon said “every day in the studio was like a diary [entry].”
“@naomisharon I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met,” rapper Drake, also the co-founder of the label, wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.
Additional pre-album songs followed including “Definition of Love” and “Regardless.”
In an interview with Rated R&B, Sharon explained that she and her collaborators wrote the former song from the “perspective of hope, desire and even loving yourself first.”
She added, “For me, that’s my definition of love. If I’m good to myself, then I’m prepared to do the same for someone else. After that heartbreak, I had to learn to take care of myself again.”
Most recently, Sharon continued to give fans a self-directed visual for “Time and Trust.”
