Rotimi referees an all-women’s doubles match in the music video for his latest single, “Bestie.”
The video, directed by Damian Fyffe, features women in tennis attire heading to the court for some fun.
The game rules to occupy the court are straightforward: bring only your female friends and exclude their men. The interactive session is exclusively for best friends.
Rotimi wants to give special instructions to each woman, separately and collectively, without any distractions.
“Bestie” was released Sept. 8 via FrontRo Music Group/EMPIRE. The infectious track, which borrows a vocal sample of The Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” has been gaining steam on urban radio.
It was among the most added on the format following its release. At this publishing, it’s No. 46 for the week dated Oct. 25. Last week’s position was No. 53.
“Bestie” is Rotimi’s first new solo musical release since “I Do.” The latter love song appeared on both the standard and deluxe versions of his debut album, All or Nothing, released in 2021.
“I Do” reached No. 8 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, giving him the first top 10 hit of his career.
“What To Do” and “Love Somebody” were additional singles on All or Nothing. The deluxe edition of the album features appearances from Ludacris and Busta Rhymes and five bonus tracks.
Solo aside, Rotimi has collaborated with other artists in his genre, including Kevin Ross and Tank. He was also featured on tracks this year with Kuami Eugene, Flo Rida, and Spice.
