The-Dream has a new album on the way.
The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and producer took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday night (Jan. 27) to tease his next project.
“ALBUM DONE! This particular one kinda wrote it self! Can’t Wait to start shooting these vids and pressing these vinyls asap!” he wrote.
“Been 10 years since I released a comercial [sic] Album. I wasn’t inspired to do so, but I am now! Incoming,” The-Dream added, before assuring “I promise This is Not a drill!”
While there aren’t many details about The-Dream’s upcoming project, he ended the post on x with the hashtag “#LoveCult,” which could be a hint about the album’s title.

In separate posts, he expressed more excitement, writing, “I’m so excited about this Album! Esp after hearing all my first sh—s are actually Platinum and I had no idea!”

The-Dream’s new album will mark his first offering since 2020’s SXPT4, which he released independently via his label Radio Killa in partnership with Concord.
His last album released on a major label — which he references above as a commercial release — was 2013’s IV Play.
The LP, released under Def Jam, featured star-studded collaborations with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Pusha T, Fabolous, and Gary Clark Jr.
Since then, he’s independently released a couple of EPs, Royalty The Prequel (2014), Love You To Death (2016), and a few albums: Genesis (2017), Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol. 1, 2, 3 (2018) and SXTP4 (2020).
The-Dream’s untitled album is among a list of projects he’s teased over the years. In 2019, he unveiled the tracklist for his long-awaited The Nikki Project, which he has been hinting at as early as 2011.
In August 2022, he announced his plans to release a documentary to coincide with the 15th anniversary of his 2007 debut album, Love/Hate. He confirmed the doc would arrive that December. However, it has yet to premiere. (Perhaps, he could release it in 2027 to align with the album’s 20th anniversary.)
While it’s already been nearly half a decade since The-Dream last released a project, he’s kept busy with writing and producing, most recently with stars like Beyoncé (Renaissance, Cowboy Carter) and Usher (Coming Home). On the latter album, he’s featured on “Cold Blooded.”
The-Dream celebrated his 46th birthday (Sept. 20, 2023) by releasing a song from his vault titled “Stream (V7 Demo Archive 9.20).”
