Coco Jones will finally deliver her debut album Why Not More? this year via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings.

The highly awaited project will follow Jones’ debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You (2022), which was reissued with a deluxe edition in 2023.

The EP included Jones’ platinum-selling hit “ICU,” which went No. 1 on multiple charts, including Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and R&B Digital Song Sales charts.

“ICU,” produced by Camper, also earned Jones a Grammy for Best R&B Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards.

At the same ceremony, Jones was nominated for Best R&B Album, Best New Artist, Best R&B Song and Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Simple” with Babyface).

As Coco Jones prepares to release Why Not More? this year, Rated R&B uncovers everything we know about the album, including the release date, confirmed songs, tour information, and more.

When does Why Not More come out?

Why Not More? will release April 25 via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. It will mark Jones’ second project under the label, following her debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You.

How many tracks are on the album?

The standard version of Why Not More? will consist of 14 tracks. During her interview on Therapuss with Jake Shane, Jones confirmed there is a deluxe version of the album with six additional tracks. When asked how soon the deluxe would be released, Jones replied, “Honestly, I don’t even know myself. I can’t even lie.”

What songs are on Why Not More?

So far, Jones has released three songs from the album: “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” “Most Beautiful Design” and “Taste.”

Jones launched her debut era with “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” which samples Lenny Williams’ “‘Cause I Love You.” Speaking on the song’s inspiration, she told Rated R&B, “I think the music inspired the song concept because I feel like with the sample, it feels like this orchestra and like a mystery. [It’s] like this mission is happening like 007 or something. I was like, ‘What could be the mission here?’ And the mission, I feel like, is to be free from this person that constantly comes back in — to get over that hurdle.”

“Most Beautiful Design,” released Oct. 18, 2024, features producer London on the Track and rapper Future. Jones explained, “I’ve always been a fan of rap and R&B duets, so being able to modernize that format alongside Future – a rapper with such longevity and years of success in the game, is so exciting to me. ‘Most Beautiful Design’ is the space London on da Track discovered where both of our worlds collide and we get to find common ground as, rapper and singer, and as man and woman.”

“Taste,” the album’s latest single, samples Britney Spears’ 2003 hit “Toxic.” Jones told Ryan Da Lion from Baltimore’s Magic 95.9, “I have done music of all different type of sonics, and I don’t want to feel like just because people expect me to do one thing in this one category that I can’t do anything else. ‘Taste’ was kind of me just experimenting, taking the limits off myself. The Britney sample just happened organically; that wasn’t planned.”

In an interview on the Therapuss, Jones teased a couple of unreleased songs that are on the album. “I’m excited for another song called ‘Nobody Exists.’ It’s really like this sweet, love type of song — it just feels really sweet and gentle,” she said.

“I have one song called ‘Keep It Quiet,’ and it’s basically like, ‘If you’re going to play, don’t play because I have an ego too. I’m a big deal, too. Don’t embarrass me.’ I love the different moods of me because I’m not just one note. I’m a character. There are several different versions of me. I’m excited to display those more.”

What has Coco Jones said about Why Not More?

In a 2024 interview with Rated R&B, Jones shared her major takeaway from making her What I Didn’t Tell You EP and how she would approach her album differently.

“The EP made me want to explore different sounds [and] different genres, seeing how I could mix them,” Jones explained. “I felt like a scientist whose one experiment did really well, and it’s like, ‘Oh damn, okay.’ Now I’m getting all mad creative, just trying a bunch of different things because I’m like, ‘That was good. Let’s see what else I can do.’ [I’m] just motivated.”

Are there any features?

At this time, the only confirmed features on Why Not More? are Future and London on da Track, who appear on the previously shared song “Most Beautiful Design.”

Is there a tracklist for Why Not More?
