Ciara Announces New Album ‘CiCi,’ Sets Release Date

It’s officially Ciara season. The global star has announced her eighth album, CiCi, will release Aug. 22 via her label Beauty Marks Entertainment.

The 14-track album, an extension of her 2023 EP of the same name, will feature all six tracks from the mini-project plus her newly released single “Ecstasy.” 

“On every album, having the ultimate slow R&B record is always a must for me! We call it baby-making music where I’m from! I can’t wait for the world to see the video and experience ‘Ecstasy’ with me! The CiCi Way!” says Ciara.

Regarding CiCi, she wrote in a lengthy social post, “This album right here is my love letter. A celebration of the journey—and more importantly, a thank you to you, my Day 1s and Day 21s. You’ve stuck by me through every era, every evolution, and every independent leap of faith.”

CiCi will also include her Chris Brown-assisted hit “How We Roll” and high-energy bangers “Wassup” featuring Busta Rhymes and “Run It Up” featuring BossMan Dlow. The former appears on the EP and the latter two were released in 2024. 

In a previous interview with Rated R&B, Ciara exclusively hinted that her new album would be a continuation of her CiCi EP.

“I wanted to curate and set the tone of my next music chapter with this EP,” Ciara said. “This project is the start of really exciting things to come.” She also revealed that she “recorded a lot of music during the pandemic.” 

Producer Kasey Phillips, who produced five of the EP’s tracks, told Rated R&B, “The EP is a proof of concept. I think we proved the concept, so the next phase would be the album.”

CiCi is the follow-up to Ciara’s 2019 album, Beauty Marks, which debuted at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. The LP included her 2x platinum single “Level Up,” plus featured collaborations with Kelly Rowland, Macklemore, and Tekno. 

Beauty Marks was the first full-length project Ciara released under her label. She told Rated R&B, “What I learned is that being independent is truly empowering. I always knew it would be, but there is no better feeling than being in control of your vision and doing things your way.”
