Ciara has teamed with rising Florida rapper BossMan Dlow for her new song “Run It Up,” produced by JR Rotem, who also helmed her hit “Level Up.”
Ciara co-wrote the new anthem with Theron Thomas and Courtlin Jabrae.
BossMan Dlow arrives in the first verse, rapping about splurging on his woman. “I don’t want no rental car, babe, let’s pull somethin’ off the lot / You with a boss now, bae, let’s have sex on a yacht / Moncler for the winter (Yeah), steak and shrimp for dinner,” he raps.
Ciara comes in for the second verse, where she brushes off naysayers as she lives her leveled-up life.
“No matter how many points I put up on the board / Just believe me, you know they gon’ hate / I’m in a league of my own, I’m a wife and a mom I go pick up my kids in a Wraith,” she rap-sings.
Speaking on her new song, Ciara explains, “‘Run It Up’ is about staying focused on the hustle and grind to achieve your dreams while remaining unbothered and blessed.”
BossMan Dlow adds, “She’s the greatest, run that sack up crazy.”
Ciara has been teasing “Run It Up” during her set on the Out of This World Tour with Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. The highly praised tour has upcoming stops in Boston, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Detroit, Montreal, and Toronto. The tour will wrap up Aug. 23 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
“Run It Up” is Ciara’s first single release since her CiCi EP, which dropped Aug. 18, 2023. The seven-track project was preceded by the Chris Brown-assisted “How We Roll,” which topped Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
“It was so much fun working with Breezy because we have been wanting to work together for some time,” Ciara told Rated R&B. “We are so proud of what we made together and, most importantly, the growth we have had as artists.”
In November 2023, “How We Roll” slid to the top 10 at urban radio. In the same month, Ciara released her “How We Roll (Remix),” which featured a new verse from Lil Wayne.
In January, “How We Roll” reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart. It was Ciara’s first top 10 hit on this chart since her 2007 smash “Like A Boy,” which peaked at No. 6.
“How We Roll” also scored Ciara and Chris Brown a win for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Traditional) at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

Circling back to CiCi, the EP also featured Lil Baby (“Forever”) and Big Freedia (“Winning”). Regarding the project, Ciara told Rated R&B, “I wanted to curate and set the tone of my next music chapter with this EP. This project is the start of really exciting things to come, but most importantly, I want my fans to know that the Ci Ci they have always loved is in her R&B bag.”
Ciara has also collaborated with a few other artists since releasing CiCi. She joined dance music trio Keys N Krates on their electronic groove “Fantasy” last November. In June, she teamed with inspirational rapper Hulvey on his “Altar (Remix).”
Additionally, Ciara appears on rapper Latto‘s “Good 2 U” from her new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which is out today on RCA Records.
On Sept. 27, Ciara will reissue her critically acclaimed debut album, Goodies, on vinyl and digitally, to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Goodies (20th Anniversary) will be available on a 2LP limited-edition vinyl in an opaque hot pink pressing. It will include the original album, except “Next To You,” plus two rare tracks: “Crazy” and “Represent Me.” The album will also feature a new dance remix of “Goodies” by Dipha Barus.
