Leon Thomas has officially announced the expanded edition of his second album.
MUTT Deluxe: HEEL is set to release May 30 via EZNMY Records/Motown Records. It features all the album’s original tracks, including the No. 1 hit “Mutt,” plus new collaborations with Marsha Ambrosius, Kehlani, Halle, Big Sean and more. “Rather Be Alone,” his collaboration with Halle, was released April 18.
Speaking on his deluxe album, Thomas notes, “MUTT has always been about embracing complexity in sound, in identity, in experience. HEEL is me leaning even deeper into that chaos, and finding beauty in it.”
As indicated above, Thomas’ breakout hit “Mutt” is No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart dated May 10. It marks his first leader on this list. Elsewhere on Billboard’s “Mutt” claims victory on the Hot R&B Songs and R&B Streaming Songs charts.

Thomas recently teamed with Chris Brown for his official “Mutt (CB Remix),” which topped the R&B Digital Song Sales chart. At the time of this writing, it hasn’t been confirmed if the remix will appear on HEEL.
The standard version of MUTT was released in September 2024. The follow-up to 2023’s Electric Dusk featured collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Masego, Wale, Baby Rose and Freddie Gibbs, who appeared on the first “Mutt (Remix).”
Speaking on MUTT, Thomas told Rated R&B, “Going through this journey of being single, finding myself, and documenting it through these songs showed me how much I crave something real.”
He continued, “MUTT is the documentation of my evolution into the John Legend version of myself one day with the whole family, touring and being a professional R&B artist who also has time for a life.”

At the 2025 BET Awards, Thomas is nominated for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. The latter category includes Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Drake, Fridayy, Teddy Swims, The Weeknd and Usher.
Culture’s Biggest Night airs live Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m. ET on BET.
