Musiq Soulchild continues to bring his unique essence to dope collaborations. His new group Lumi Trice — which includes himself, singer-songwriter A-Lex and producer David Luke — has released their first single “Same Way” featuring Cantrell.
The hip-hop soul melding song brings the track in with somber strings, steering into piano-heavy production with calming Jazz undertones. Taking the lead on the hook, Soulchild sings, “I feel the same way, I feel the same way / My feelings still as deep as before / Just one thing to say when she tells me that her love will never change / I feel the same way / Same way, same way / I feel the same way.
The trio has previously worked together on Soulchild’s eighth studio album, Feel The Real. Separately, Soulchild has joined forces with Dionne Warwick on her latest album She’s Back and Kehlani on her mixtape While We Wait earlier this year.
The song serves as the inaugural single for their upcoming album, Dear Lumi.
