PJ Morton Announces New Album ‘Paul’

If there is anything to be learned about PJ Morton after the last few years, he loves recording music. A year after releasing the live version of his Grammy-nominated album Gumbo, the creative genius has announced plans to drop a new full-length soon.

Morton revealed via social media on Monday that his next studio album is titled Paul, which is his first name. He revealed it’s “finished” and is “coming sooooon.” He also hinted multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar (of Maroon 5) is involved somehow in his forthcoming project after tagging him in the post.

The lead single for Paul is his JoJo-assisted duet “Say So.” Morton premiered a nostalgic visual for the adult R&B ballad earlier this month.

Morton isn’t done yet. In addition to his upcoming studio album, the adventurous maestro made history at the 2019 Essence Festival for being the first artist to ever do a live recording. The session took place in The Playlist Superlounge on night-one of the festival and featured guest appearances by Luke James, Mia X, JoJo, and his father Bishop Paul Morton.

On top of these two albums, Morton is busy working on two gospel projects for Tyscot Music & Entertainment. The first album is the debut record for Morton Records signee Josiah “Jojo” Martin. The second is a star-studded compilation titled The Gospel According to PJ.

In August, Morton will storm the Outside Lands Festival alongside Childish Gambino, Leon Bridges, Ella Mai, Alina Baraz, Cautious Clay, and more.
