Ssssss! Elle Varner has released a video for “Pour Me” featuring rapper Wale.
Directed by Child (K. Michelle, BJ The Chicago Kid), the clip shows a more sexy side of Varner. A real-life python is seen slithering throughout the visual — and even ends up around Varner and Wale. “The snakes were a last-minute addition the day of the shoot,” Varner revealed to Essence, “but I said, ‘hey…let’s do it.'”
In a recent interview with Rated R&B, Varner explained the meaning of “Pour Me.”
“It’s a double entendre about being a poor girl who’s lost the love she wants. So, pour her another,” she said. “It has that ’90s feel. It has these hard drums and chords that are just so tickling. It’s me on a thousand.”
“Pour Me” is the follow-up to Varner’s acoustic-driven single “Loving U Blind.” Both tracks are expected to appear on her forthcoming sophomore album.
