Ty Dolla $ign joins forces with rapper J. Cole for his new single titled “Purple Emoji.”

Behind a soulful production, which contains an interpolation of Take 6’s classic groove “More Than Ever,” Ty muses over the fact that his trifling playboy antics have caused his lady a great deal of pain.

“I said some things I didn’t mean, I know I did too much / What’s love if we can’t get into it, turn around and make up,” coos Ty on his only verse.

J. Cole finds himself in the same boat with his girl. “I got a laundry list of the shit you done did for me / God pulled out a rib for me, she pushed out a kid for me / When I’m gone you hold down the crib for me,” spits emcee.

Ty premiered “Purple Emoji” on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show earlier this week. During his conversation, Ty also revealed he’s “finishing up” his follow-up to Beach House 3 and MihTy.

“I feel like I got all the songs and now I’m just working on the deluxe version to add more songs a week later however after I put out the album,” shared Ty.

For his “most personal” album to date, Ty plans to get in his bag and release “a lot more serious songs,” along with his usual club bangers.

Ahead of his new album, Ty has been quite the collaborator. He’s been heard on various projects, including Mariah Carey’s Caution, Kaytranada’s NOTHIN LIKE U / CHANCES, and Kehlani’s While We Wait. His teamwork with the latter R&B siren earned him a gold plaque for “Nights Like This.”
