With Memorial Day weekend right around the corner, PJ Morton has shared his genius version of The Gap Band’s “Yearning For Your Love” for cookout playlist consideration.
Morton takes an ambitious approach for the reworking of the classic love jam, painting the colors of the reimagined production with his smooth vocals.
Earlier this month, Morton wrapped his Keys & A Mic Acoustic Tour with The Amours. The recent Grammy winner will keep the live shows coming with a special set at the 2019 Essence Music Festival.
Morton and his all-star cast Luke James, JoJo, The Hamiltones, Mia X, and Pell will record a mysterious live project at the 25th anniversary show in his hometown of New Orleans in July.
In August, Morton can be seen performing live at the Outside Lands Festival.
Beyond his on-stage appearances this year, and his new song “Say Yes” with JoJo, Morton is the mastermind behind a two-gospel album deal with Tyscot Music & Entertainment under his Morton Records inspirational imprint. The musician is championing a project for signee Josiah “Jojo” Martin and a star-studded compilation titled The Gospel According to PJ.
