Now that Monica’s secured her first top 10 R&B single in almost a decade with “Commitment,” she realizes more that the heat is on for her Chapter 38 album. With studio sessions already wrapped with PJ Morton and Polow Da Don, she hit the lab with another heavy hitter this week.
Beaming in “unexplainable joy” about her follow up to 2015’s Code Red, the vocalist uploaded a photo of her and Tank in the studio. She praised the R&B general, who crowned her The Governor, for playing a significant role in her opening up for the writing process of soon-to-be bangers.
“Thank you @therealtank for being such a huge part of me sharing my transparency,” she captioned in an Instagram post. “This man makes an entire song off any word I say!”
Chapter 38 is expected to be one of Monica’s most personal albums to date that will address “love, joy, pain, heartbreak, redemption, and the ability to stand strong.” The album, which features her latest single “Me + You,” will also mark her first full-length release under her independent imprint MonDeenise Music, Inc.
