After making a slithering entrance on the purple carpet at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, H.E.R. graced the stage to premiere a new song called “Anti.”
Wearing a pared-down outfit full of earth tones, the two-time Grammy winner opened the performance in front of a custom magazine backdrop. She soon raced down the narrow soundstage to deliver the rest of the gloomy tune about remaining low-key under the public eye. H.E.R. also threw in her killer guitar solo towards the end.
“Anti” is the latest solo offering from H.E.R. since she released an unreleased track titled“21” in July. In between her working on her much-anticipated debut album, H.E.R. has contributed to other artist’s projects, including DRAM (“The Lay Down”).
H.E.R., who will take home a special honor at the next Black Girls Rock!, has a lot more in store this fall. In September, she is hosting her self-curated Lights On Festival and headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival. She is also set to play Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in November.
