Jhené Aiko has announced a string of dates supporting her festival appearances this summer. The trek began with her recent stop in Chicago at the Hyde Park Summer Fest, over the weekend.
Aiko, who shares a new platinum award from the RIAA with Kendrick Lamar, also plays at Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom this month.
The Live Nation Urban-produced event, slated for June 19 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, features other performances Earth, Wind & Fire, Lucky Daye, Anthony Hamilton, Khalid, Michelle Williams and more.
In addition, Aiko is on the marquee for festivals throughout July and August, including Mo Pop Music Festival and the newly-announced Day N Vegas Festival. H.E.R., SZA, and Summer Walker are just a few names set to perform at the last show.
Also, in August, Aiko will headline the inaugural LetsGetFr.ee Festival alongside Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals and Missy Elliott. The two-day festival goes down Aug. 20 and Aug. 21 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York.
Earlier this year, Aiko maintained visibility by performing “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LVI. Following the rendition, she accepted a gold certification for “The Pressure,” from her debut album Souled Out.
Aiko released her latest album, Chilombo, in 2020. The platinum-selling set earned an Album of the Year nomination and a Best Progressive R&B Album nod at the 2021 Grammys. Her collaboration, “Lighting & Thunder,” featuring John Legend, was also up for Best R&B Performance.
Chilombo made Rated R&B’s year-end albums list in December 2020.
Last year, Aiko spent most of her time releasing music dedicated to soundtracks. She contributed the Swae Lee-assisted “In The Dark“ for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. That spring, she performed “Lead the Way“ on the Raya and the Last Dragon compilation.
