Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer Babyface scores his second consecutive top ten hit this year on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week (Aug. 27). His Ella Mai-assisted “Keeps On Fallin’” reaches No. 7 in its ninth chart week. It marks his 15th top ten single on this airplay-driven chart.
Babyface previously topped the Adult R&B Airplay chart with “No Stoppin’ Us,” the Charlie Wilson-led single that also features Johnny Gill and K-Ci Hailey. He also co-produced the new oldie, which earned him its fifth chart-topper on this list this month.
The previous year, Babyface grabbed a top five hit (No. 4, April 2021) with Jam & Lewis’ “He Don’t Know Nothin’ About It.” The song appears on the legendary songwriting and production duo’s 2021 debut album Jam & Lewis, Volume 1.
Mai’s recent achievement with Babyface brings her top ten total to seven, following the chart-topping success of “DFMU.” Her fourth No. 1 single is taken from her sophomore album, Heart On My Sleeve, available now.
“Keeps On Fallin'” is lifted from Babyface’s forthcoming album Girls’ Night Out. It was released on June 17 as the lead single from his Capitol Records debut, which releases on Oct. 21. He and Mai performed the track later that month at the 2022 BET Awards, receiving much applause from the crowd.
Mai isn’t the only woman Babyface tapped for Girls’ Night Out. He recently collaborated with Kehlani on the song “Seamless.” Queen Naija, Ari Lennox, and Doechii, among others, also are set to appear on the star-studded release.
“I am very excited about the upcoming album and everyone on it. The process for it reminded me of when I did Waiting to Exhale and I’m excited for the world to hear,” said Babyface of Girls’ Night Out.
As mentioned above, Babyface’s new album marks his first album on Capitol Records. The new LP, in which he co-produced Rika Tischendorf, also marks his first album since 2015’s Return Of The Tender Lover.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to be signing to a legacy label like Capitol. They have welcomed me with open arms and treat me like family,” said Babyface. “And, in the end, that is what it’s all about – doing what you love with people who have the love for music as you do.”
Starting on Sept. 17, Mai will support Heart On My Sleeve on Mary J. Blige’s headlining Good Morning Gorgeous Tour. She’ll perform select dates, as will Queen Naija. Tickets are available now.
