Rising singer Coco Jones is the latest act to perform for Genius’ Open Mic series.

Wearing a chocolate outfit and a gold necklace, Jones spent her studio visit performing her current single, “ICU.”

The DJ Camper-produced song is taken from Jones’ What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), as well as its standard version. It was released as the second single from Jones’ debut effort.

Discussing the track, Jones says, “[It’s] about the push and pull of being in a relationship where the circumstances have changed. Growing in our career and personal goals, but growing apart at the same time.”

Last November, Jones made a special appearance at the 2022 Soul Train Awards, where she performed “ICU.”

On Spotify, “ICU” has amassed over 7.5 million streams at the time of publication. The official video has more than 4.4 million views on YouTube.

“ICU” is also in rotation on urban radio, reaching No. 16 in the week that ended Feb. 25. It marks her first top 20 single on this radio format.

As mentioned earlier, Jones issued What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), an expanded edition of her 2022 EP. It included four new tracks, one of which was her “Simple” collaboration featuring Babyface.

Last month, Jones won Outstanding New Artist at the 54th NAACP Image Awards. She beat Adam Blackstone, Armani White, Fivio Foreign, and Steve Lacy.

Jones took to Instagram to celebrate the feat, writing, “@naacpimageawards having this award as my first music win means so much to me!”

Jones has kept fans fed in the music arena. She recently teamed up with Leon Thomas, in collaboration with Spotify, to cover “Until the End of Time,” originally performed by Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé.

Jones will perform at the Broccoli City Festival on July 16 headlined by Brent Faiyaz; Chlöe is also on the lineup.

Before the Broccoli City Festival, Jones will perform at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C., on March 12. She also has two sold-out Femme It Forward shows in April.
