Miguel is gearing up for a new era. The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter has announced that his new single “Give It To Me” will arrive on Friday, April 28.
Miguel shared the announcement in a social media post where he thanked his foundational audience for their patience.
“Give It To Me” will mark Miguel’s first new song of the year. The song is his first proper single since 2017’s War & Leisure. His third album, certified gold, spawned the singles “Sky Walker” featuring Travis Scott and “Come Through and Chill” with J. Cole and Salaam Remi.
Co-produced with Happy Perez, the former track peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. It topped urban radio, making it his first No. 1 as a lead artist since “Adorn” from 2012’s Kaleidoscope Dream. It’s now certified 3x multi-platinum with over three million equivalent units sold.
“Come Through and Chill” also did well on the Hot R&B Songs chart, reaching No. 8. The song, helmed by Remi, went platinum and amassed more than 215 million streams on Spotify at the time of publication.
Between Miguel’s forthcoming single and the success of War & Leisure, he’s given fans a lot of musical output. He debuted the song “Python” ahead of his headlining Ascension Tour in 2018.
In 2019, Miguel updated War & Leisure with a Spanish-language EP consisting of five songs from the album. Later that year, he joined Alicia Keys for her song “Show Me Love,” which shot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, and released the song “Funeral.”
Miguel was part of more collaborations, lending his vocals to Jhené Aiko, dvsn, Ro James, Tainy, and Diplo. His association with the latter DJ and producer resulted in his first Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“Don’t Forget My Love“) at the 65th ceremony.
In 2021, Miguel issued Art Dealer Chic 4, the fourth installment in his long-standing EP series. He uploaded the three previous volumes on streaming platforms for the first time.
“Art Dealer Chic is the mindset to invest our beliefs in thoughts and emotions that add the most value in our lives,” Miguel said. “The same way an art dealer would dictate the value of a particular work, we dictate and curate what thoughts and emotions are worth our time and energy.”
Miguel is back on the charts for his 2011 single “Sure Thing.” The Happy Perez-helmed track experienced a victory lap thanks to going viral on TikTok. It remains at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a second week, its current peak.
“Sure Thing” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart this week (April 22), making it his first leader as a lone artist. He previously reigned when Mariah Carey’s collaboration “#Beautiful” debuted and peaked atop the week that ended May 25, 2013.
On Spotify, “Sure Thing” has garnered over 815 million streams for its standard version. His sped-up edition has run up over 70 million streams.
Miguel is set to perform at Usher’s Lovers & Friends Festival at Las Vegas Festival Grounds on May 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
