Snoh Aalegra has found a person who satisfies her sweet tooth.
In her latest song, “Sweet Tea,” produced by NO I.D. and Greg Phillinganes, she uses her placid voice to compare someone’s warm presence to the delightful taste of this beverage.
“I’m my best / I’m myself whenever you’re around / You’re my favorite sound / Favorite sound / I felt my pain drift away with November rain / Cleared my soul and my mind / And, you’re the reason why,” Aalegra sings.
“Sweet Tea” comes less than two weeks after her previous single, “Be My Summer,” which she wrote with Ari PenSmith.
The latter track was her first solo release since her 2021 rendition of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love,” titled “Do 4 Love.”
Aalegra’s cover song, initially only available on Spotify, earned her a Best Traditional R&B Performance nomination at the 65th Grammy Awards.
That’s not all the praise Aalegra has received in recent years. Following the release of her third album, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies, she collected a pair of top ten singles: “Lost You” and “In Your Eyes.”
Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 64th Grammy Awards. Meanwhile, “Lost You” was up for Best R&B Performance.
Just prior to this, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies was included in Rated R&B’s list of the best 30 R&B albums of 2021.
In 2022, Aalegra achieved her first platinum award for her song “I Want You Around.” This year, she collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Malik Baptiste on his track “All You Need to Know.”
