Summer Walker will release, Girls Need Love (Girls Mix), on Oct. 20 via LVRN/Interscope Records.
The maxi-single compilation will feature five versions of her 2018 single, “Girls Need Love,” including collaborations with emerging female artists Victoria Monét, Tyla, and Tink.
There are two other versions of the song – an explicit solo version and a newly-released acoustic version that was launched with the EP announcement. The latter can be heard below.
“Girls Need Love” is lifted from Walker’s debut project, Last Day of Summer, which was recently certified platinum. Walker remixed the 2018 single the following year with a guest appearance from Canadian rapper Drake.
The collaboration with Drake marked Walker’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and first Top 40 hit on the same chart, peaking at No. 37.
In May, the solo version of “Girls Need Love” achieved 5x multi-platinum certification from the RIAA. It’s her best-selling single to date.
Walker recently announced the release of a special fifth-anniversary vinyl for Last Day of Summer. The record will be pressed on cobalt blue vinyl and will be available for purchase at a price of $25. It’s out Oct. 20.
Last Day of Summer was released Oct. 19, 2018, via LVRN/Interscope Records. The set features 12 tracks, including popular singles “Karma” and “Deep.”
Both of the latter tracks were certified platinum, while the former track reached No. 1 on urban radio earlier this year. It was Walker’s first chart-topper on the same radio format.
Walker released the sequel to her 2019 EP, CLEAR, titled CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE this spring.
Additionally, Walker earned her second No. 1 hit on urban radio with “Good Good” featuring Usher and 21 Savage. The track is the lead single off Usher’s ninth album, Coming Home, set to be released on Feb. 11, 2024.
