Mary J. Blige is still in demand on the airwaves. The R&B icon’s rising single “Still Believe In Love” featuring Vado has reached the top 10 at R&B radio this week at No. 8.
It’s Blige’s first top 10 hit on imprint Beautiful Life Music.
The hip-hop soul track, which samples Mtume’s “C.O.D. (I’ll Deliver),” received an audience impression of 4.7 million and an almost 28% boost in spins from last week.
Blige achieved her last top 10 on R&B radio with the Anderson .Paak-featured “Here With Me” last summer.
The song, nominated for Best R&B Performance in 2023, appears on her 15th album, Good Morning Gorgeous, which was released in February 2022.
This week (Dec. 2), Blige extends her lead for the most top 10 hits on the Adult R&B Airplay chart with “Still Believe In Love” at No. 9 on Billboard. Upon its release, it marked her 61st entry on this list after she made her first appearance more than 30 years ago.
“Still Believe In Love” has surpassed over 442,000 streams on Spotify since releasing Oct. 27 via Blige’s Beautiful Life Music imprint. The official video has exceeded 2.5 million times on YouTube.
DJ Cassidy and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman co-produced “Still Believe In Love.” It will not be included in a future album release, according to Blige’s interview with Mike Shannon of SiriusXM’s Heart & Soul.
Nevertheless, Mary J. Blige’s fans on social media and YouTube are urging her to team up with the iconic singer Charlie Wilson for the official remix of the song.
Blige had an acclaimed album run last year with Good Morning Gorgeous and its deluxe edition. She claimed her seventh No. 1 Adult R&B hit with the empowering title track, co-produced by H.E.R. and D’Mile.
She received the Icon Award at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards and the Legend Award at the 2022 Clio Music Awards.
“Good Morning Gorgeous” was awarded the BET Her Award at the 2023 BET Awards. Blige received the Certified Soul Award at the previous year’s Soul Train Awards, for which she was nominated for seven awards.
Furthermore, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul was recognized with six Grammy nominations in 2023, bringing her total career nominations to 37.
In other recent news, Blige celebrated the 10th anniversary of her first holiday album, A Mary Christmas, with a reissue. She was also honored with Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year Award.
Additionally, Blige has reconnected with songwriter Johntá Austin and songwriter/producer Bryan-Michael Cox to work on new music. However, there is no official release date or title yet.
