Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Masego has released a series of Remixes. He has reimagined versions of tracks from his self-titled second album.
The five-track digital drop features the previously shared “You Never Visit Me (Remix),” on which rappers Wale and ENNY guest. An official visualizer accompanied the update to the second single from Masego.
The original version of “You Never Visit Me” was produced by Wu10, Louie Lastic, and Todd Pritchard. Masego named his North American tour after the song.
Masego Remixes includes two alternate versions of “What You Wanna Try,” updated by Kooldrink and Kweku Sanderson.
Masego also gives refreshes to tracks “Say You Want Me” and “Black Anime.” Jamie Brown and Pocket are among the DJs who contributed to the upgraded versions.
“Say You Want Me” was the lead single from Masego. The Afro-R&B groove was co-produced by P2J and E.Y. Rising artists Destin Conrad and Ambré provided backing vocal support on the track.
Remixes lands months after Masego dropped his eponymous sophomore album on EQT Recordings/Capitol Records.
In a spring 2023 interview with Rated R&B, Masego shared more insight about his latest studio album.
“Though the album is very lush and has its elements that people are familiar with, I think what’s different about this album is the depth of vulnerability I got,” said Masego.
He added, “I feel like if people understand that everyone has a loop that they’re doing and every person’s loop can change based off the right experiences and relationships, they can feel encouraged and feel okay with being present and vulnerable in all the motions that come with it.”
Masego will tour the UK and Europe in support of his second album from Jan. 24 to Feb. 25, 2024. He previously toured the LP earlier this spring across North America.
