Masego unites with rappers Wale and ENNY for the official remix of his sensational track “You Never Visit Me.”
Still reeling from being left without a partner, Masego invites his newly added guests to share stories of abandonment.
Wale is heartbroken over a past lover who left him feeling blue and blocked his messages. But he doubts if the door to their love story is closed, as suggested by his rhyme: “It’s over but I’m understand the assumption you’re ain’t over me.”
On the other hand, ENNY no longer worries about the lack of visitation, reflecting on when her ex never paid or prioritized her feelings. She gets her lick back, vocalizing, “But, now I got you on a need to know bases / If I keep it real / I seen the truth and now I can’t face it.”
“You Never Visit Me” is lifted from Masego’s self-titled sophomore album, released in March via EQT Recordings/Capitol Records.
The song, released in late 2022, produced by Wu10, Louie Lastic and Todd Pritchard, titled his first headlining North American tour that happened earlier this year.
Masego performed “You Never Visit Me” live and filmed the music video in Brazil.
Doubling back to Masego’s recent studio album, Masego consisted of 14 tracks. Among those tracks were “Say You Want Me” and “Two Sides (Im So Gemini).” Both were released ahead of the album rollout.
In an interview with Rated R&B, Masego shared what sticks out about this album. “Though the album is very lush and has its elements that people are familiar with, I think what’s different about this album is the depth of vulnerability I got.”
He continued, “I feel like if people understand that everyone has a loop that they’re doing and every person’s loop can change based off of the right experiences and relationships, they can feel encouraged and feel okay with being present and vulnerable in all the motions that come with it.”
As mentioned above, Masego toured his second album nationwide. He will resume performing, this time in the U.K. and Europe.
His Where We Goin? Tour will launch Jan. 24, 2024, and will conclude Feb. 25. He will be joined by special guest, Tanerélle. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Oct. 13.
