Tinashe has released her new single, “Nasty,” ahead of her Coachella debut tonight (April 12).
On the flirty banger, produced by Ricky Reed and Zack Sekoff, Tinashe sings: “Is somebody gonna match my nasty? / I got stamina, they say I’m an athlete.”
“Nasty” arrives with a dance-packed video, filmed in a desert, directed by Jonah Haber.
“I’m excited for everyone to hear my new song ‘Nasty.’ This is that all summer long kinda BOP!” says Tinashe. “It’s meant to make you feel sexy, confident, let loose and maybe even unleash some of that sluttiness inside you. We all need a daily reminder that we are our own muses, here’s the inspiration to embrace it.”
“Nasty” is the first taste from Tinashe’s upcoming album, BB/ANG3L PT.2 — QUANTUM BABY. The project is a follow-up to BB/ANG3L, released Sept. 8, 2023, via Nice Life Recording Company.
BB/ANG3L included bops like “Needs” and “Talk To Me Nice.” The former track, produced by Royce David and JonnyMade, is the project’s most-played song on Spotify with over 18 million streams.
“For BB/ANG3L I was very inspired by the concept of identity. Exploring both how I self-identify and also challenging the perceptions of others,” Tinashe explained.
“I believe how we identify in this world is ultimately our own personal choice; and I’ve enjoyed stripping back layers of aesthetic fluff, smoke & mirrors, and white noise to get down to the core of myself. Who we are at a core level, when we are alone – raw & unfiltered, is what I want this album to reflect.”
As noted above, Tinashe is set to perform at Coachella today in Indio, California, and will return on April 19 for a second show.
