Ciara has new music on the way. The Grammy-winning singer has announced her new single “Run It Up,” featuring rapper BossMan Dlow, will release Aug. 9 via Beauty Marks Entertainment.
Ciara has been previewing “Run It Up” during her set on the Out of This World Tour, also starring Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes.
At the tour’s Atlanta stop, Ciara was joined on stage by Atlanta City Councilman Michael Julian Bond, who presented her with a proclamation declaring July 28 as Ciara Day.
“To any citizen, person, place or thing, I have a proclamation from the City of Atlanta to declare the recognition of Grammy Award-winning artist, singer, songwriter [and] philanthropist Ciara,” Bond told the sold-out crowd. “So it is my privilege to honor you today with the proclamation now there, for we, the city council representing the City of Atlanta, hereby proclaim this day, July 28, 2024, as Ciara Day.”
Ciara took to social media to express her gratitude. “Wow!! July 28th officially marks CIARA DAY in Atlanta!!! Thank you so much Councilman Michael Julian Bond and Phillana for an incredible recognition. Forever grateful to my city. There’s no place like Home,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Run It Up” will mark Ciara’s first original song release since her 2023 EP, CiCi. The project included her Chris Brown-assisted hit “How We Roll,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
Ciara co-produced “How We Roll” with Theron Thomas, Deli Banger, Mr. Kamera, and Precision Productions. The song was accompanied by a dance-heavy video, which has garnered over 58 million views on YouTube.
Ciara filmed the video for “How We Roll” while pregnant. In an interview with Rated R&B, she reflected on her collaboration with Brown and her experience on the video set.
“It was so much fun working with Breezy because we have been wanting to work together for some time. We are so proud of what we made together and, most importantly, the growth we have had as artists,” Ciara exclusively told Rated R&B.
“Even down to sharing laughs over us both having kids now, which was even funnier because I was pregnant on the video set. It’s been so sweet to see all the love the fans have been showing the song and video.”
CiCi was released Aug. 18, 2023, via Ciara’s label Beauty Marks Entertainment. The project also featured Lil Baby (“Forever”) and Big Freedia (“Winning”).
In November, Ciara released her “How We Roll (Remix),” which featured a guest verse from rap icon Lil Wayne. Just a week after issuing the remix, Ciara joined Keys N Krates on their electronic dance track “Fantasy.”
In June of this year, Ciara teamed with inspirational rapper Hulvey on his “Altar (Remix).”
Circling back to “Run It Up,” it’s unclear if the song is a standalone release or part of an upcoming album.
Ciara previously hinted to Rated R&B that more music would be coming after CiCi. “I wanted to curate and set the tone of my next music chapter with this EP,” she explained. “This project is the start of really exciting things to come, but most importantly, I want my fans to know that the Ci Ci they have always loved is in her R&B bag.”
In the meantime, Ciara is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Goodies. On Sept. 27, she will release Goodies (20th Anniversary) on vinyl and digitally. The deluxe edition will include all the album’s original songs, except “Next to You,” plus a remix of the title and two rarities, “Crazy” and “Represent Me.”
