Chris Brown has landed a new entry on the coveted Billboard Hot 100 chart.
His fan-driven single “Residuals” opens at No. 97 on the chart dated Aug. 24, marking his 118th entry.
Brown’s last visit to the Hot 100 was with “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay. The Afrobeats-tinged track debuted on the chart in the week of Feb. 3, 2024, and peaked at No. 71 on the chart dated March 16.
Speaking of “Sensational,” the hypnotizing tune is No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart this week.
Meanwhile, Brown’s previous solo entry on the Hot 100 was with his Grammy-nominated song “Summer Too Hot,” which debuted and peaked at No. 93 in September 2023.
Elsewhere on Billboard this week, “Residuals” is No. 7 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart in its sixth week. On the R&B Streaming Songs chart, the heartfelt track moves up one spot to No. 12, while it rests at No. 5 on the Hot R&B Songs for another week.
In July, “Residuals” became Brown’s 51st top 10 hit on the Hot R&B Songs chart. In a week prior, Brown made history with his feature on Jeremih‘s “Wait On It” as the first R&B artist to achieve 50 top 10 hits on that chart.
Produced by Eric Hudson and Blaq Tuxedo, “Residuals” is lifted from Chris Brown’s 11:11 (Deluxe) album. The expanded set, which includes 13 bonus tracks, was released April 11 via RCA Records.
On “Residuals,” Brown laments about a relationship that has ended. Throughout the desolate track, he wonders if his ex has moved on to someone else.
“Tell me who / Who’s getting all my time? / All of that used to be mine, oh / Who did you teach what I taught ya? / Better not give him my nickname / I don’t like thinking about it / I swear that it’s wearing me down,” he croons.
11:11 (Deluxe) includes other bops like “Go Girlfriend” and “Hmmm” featuring Davido. It also includes features from Bryson Tiller, Mario, Lil Wayne, Joyner Lucas, and Tee Grizzley.
The standard version of 11:11 was released Nov. 10, 2023. The 22-track album included Brown’s other fan-favorite “Angel Numbers / Ten Toes,” plus songs like “Feel Something,” “Press Me,” “Nightmares” featuring Byron Messia, and the previously mentioned “Sensational” and “Summer Too Hot.”
11:11 included additional features from Maeta, Fridayy, and Future. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and No. 9 on the Billboard 200.
In late April, 11:11 returned to the top 5 of the R&B Albums chart, following the release of the deluxe edition. The album also soared 82 spots to No. 24 on the Billboard 200.
Brown supported his 11th album on his headlining 11:11 Tour with special guests Muni Long, Maeta, and Ayra Starr. The North American leg wrapped up on Aug. 7 in Los Angeles.
“THANK YOU TEAM BREEZY FOR AN AMAZING TOUR,” Brown wrote in an Instagram caption. “I LOVE YALL.”
