Kehlani has locked in their second debut of 2024 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
Their new mixtape, While We Wait 2, a sequel to the 2019 release, debuts at No. 20 on the chart. This is Kehlani’s first project, whether mixtape or album, that did not open in the top 10.
In 2019, While We Wait debuted at No. 1, making it Kehlani’s second project to reach the top of the chart.
Kehlani’s recently released fourth album, Crash, appeared higher on the Top R&B Albums chart. The album, which sold 19,668 equivalent units in the first week, debuted at No. 9.
Here is a breakdown of Kehlani’s projects on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart, listed in order by peak:
- SweetSexySavage, No. 1 for one week (2017)
- While We Wait, No. 1 for one week (2019)

Elsewhere on Billboard and from While We Wait 2, the lead single “When He’s Not There” featuring Lucky Daye, bows at No. 11 on the Hot R&B Songs chart.
This marks Kehlani’s second highest debut on this chart this year, following “After Hours” from Crash, which debuted at No. 7 in April and went to No. 4 in May. It’s worth noting that Kehlani had three other entries on this chart this year.
Released Aug. 28, While We Wait 2 is the follow-up to Kehlani’s 2019 project of the same name.
The 14-track mixtape includes features from Dixson, FLO, Lil’ Mo, Destin Conrad, Vince Staples, LUDMILLA, kwn, and Childofnines.
As stated earlier, While We Wait 2 comes on the heels Crash, Kehlani’s first project of 2024, released June 21.
Currently, Kehlani is on a Live Nation-powered tour in support of both Crash and While We Wait 2. The North American leg runs through Nov. 2 and features special guests FLO and Anycia.
