Chris Brown‘s hit single “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay reclaims the No. 1 spot this week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

The DJ Hardwerk-produced track pushes Mary J. Blige‘s “Breathing” featuring Fabolous from the top spot to No. 3 after a one-week reign.

“Sensational” previously held this throne for seven straight weeks, beginning its domination in the week ending Aug. 24.

Maxwell‘s remake of Al Green‘s “Simply Beautiful” interrupted Brown’s streak for most weeks at the top among male artists this year during the week of Oct. 12. The R&B megastar still holds this aforementioned title.

Here are the male artists who spent at least two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in 2024, listed by the most weeks:

  • “Sensational,” Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, eight weeks at No. 1 so far
  • “Lose Control,” Teddy Swims, three weeks at No. 1
  • “Superman,” Charlie Wilson, three weeks at No. 1
  • “Simply Beautiful,” Maxwell, two weeks at No. 1
  • “That’s You,” Lucky Daye, two weeks at No. 1
  • “Before We Get Started,” Tank featuring Fabolous, two weeks at No. 1
  • “Risk It All,” Usher with H.E.R., two weeks at No. 1

Further, “Sensational” becomes the first song to spend eight weeks at No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay since Mary J. Blige’s “Still Believe in Love.”

The Afrobeats-centric track is now Brown’s second longest-running title on this airplay chart. His Drake-assisted track “No Guidance” remains his longest chart-topping presence, with 11 weeks.

“Sensational” is Brown’s fifth leader on this airplay chart. He collected his first No. 1 with “No Guidance” featuring Drake in January 2020. That track spent a total of 47 weeks inside the top 10 of this chart, from Nov. 2, 2019, through Sept. 26, 2020.

Released in October 2023, “Sensational” was the second single from Brown’s album, 11:11, which was reissued as an expanded edition this year.

Elsewhere on Billboard, Brown’s other single, “Residuals,” from 11:11 (Deluxe), is also making strides. This week, the track moves to No. 6 on both the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts.

These two position upgrades come after the track, produced by Eric Hudson and Blaq Tuxedo, earned Brown his 57th top-10 hit on the latter chart.

Further, “Residuals” entered the top 10 of Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart at No. 7 last week and remains at No. 7 this week. It’s Brown’s 55th top 10 on this chart. On the Adult R&B Airplay chart, “Residuals” makes its debut at No. 30.

In a recent interview with Rated R&B, Blaq Tuxedo confirmed that they recorded “Residuals” while Chris Brown was working on his Breezy album.

“That was the first song that kicked off the album,” Dominique Logan said about the Prince-inspired track. “He records a lot of songs, so it kind of got buried. We ended up doing ‘Iffy.’ We created that song the same week and he rode with that, which was a blessing.”

As for Davido, the singer recently joined British-Nigerian rapper Darkoo on her single “Right Now.” The collaborative track, released Oct. 10, has already surpassed two million streams on Spotify. On Oct. 31, Davido will release his YG Marley-assisted single “Awuke.”

Lojay has also treated fans with new tunes. He dropped a double single, “Falling/Unleash” on Oct. 17 via Koratori Music.

Regarding “Falling,” Lojay explained, “It’s a song that just keeps you daydreaming and smiling from beginning to end, and that was my intention for the song because that’s what love does to you.” Meanwhile, “Unleash” is a song that “highlights the daily struggle of trying to keep up with the pressures of society today.”
