As Jessie Reyez continues to win acclaim for her debut album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, the video for the title track is unveiled.
Described as a “Toronto love story” by Reyez, the Claire Edmondson-directed video finds the raspy-voiced chanteuse in an emotional tizzy in various locations. She is the most distraught in a studio apartment by herself.
Since its arrival in March, Reyez’s thrilling first album, which is now in deluxe form, has created enough buzz to land a spot on Rated R&B’s 16 best R&B albums of 2020 so far list.
Like her 2018 EP Being Human In Public, the album could be greeted with a similar reaction in the category for Best Progressive R&B Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Reyez has dropped videos for other album cuts, including an animated clip for “No Intruders” and a dark visual for “Same Side.” The former video surfaced after her single “Imported” was certified platinum.
