VanJess made their debut on the daytime television’s Tamron Hall Show last Thursday. The sister duo performed their latest single, “Slow Down.”
For this performance, set in a modern-day red living room, VanJess was styled in matching yet contrasting patterned tops and skirts.
“Slow Down” is lifted from the pair’s latest project, Homegrown, released in February. Jessica of VanJess recalled in a recent interview Rated R&B the inspiration behind the song.
“I just remember thinking about how the things that mattered and time. At the end of the day, there are those people in your life that just — the concept of time just gets erased sometimes. You just feel like you’re in a moment with somebody,” she explained.
Ivana added, “I was just thinking about what we all need when it comes to who our partner and just trying to say it very simply. Time is truly timeless and that’s what really the message of the song was.”
Homegrown is VanJess’ first collection of music since 2018’s Silk Canvas. The EP includes the singles “Come Over” and “Curious.”
Recently, VanJess appeared on the track “No More Tries” from Gallant’s latest project Neptune. They also released the music video for their song “Caught Up,” featuring Phony Ppl in February.
