At last, VanJess has revealed plans to release a new project. Homegrown will arrive on January 29 via Keep Cool / RCA Records. The new set is the follow up to their debut album, Silk Canvas, which was considered one of Rated R&B’s 25 best R&B albums of 2018.
The track listing for Homegrown contains four already shared tunes, including their zealous return single “Come Over,” the impressive “High & Dry,” the sax-drenched “Slow Down,” and the woozy collaboration “Dysfunctional” with Kaytranada. The sister duo performed visually stunning renditions of all three tracks, most recently the latter tune.
Along with the Homegrown EP announcement, VanJess debuted a new song called “Curious.” It features contributions from rapper Jimi Tents and rising singer Garren.
Fueled by an enticing, bass-heavy production, crafted by Jay Kurzweil, Garren starts strong with the come-on vibes on a lady of interest. VanJess, in an arresting cadence, gives their bashful crush an invitation to be upfront about their romantic intentions. Jimi’s melodic delivery about cutesy love games makes “Curious” even more worthwhile.
Before 2020 wrapped, VanJess joined forces with Jae Stephens for her new single, “Already On It.” They also collaborated with Xavier Omär on his if You Feel track, “All Our Time.”
