ABC has shared an extended first look for its forthcoming hip-hop drama Queens starring Brandy as Naomi aka Xplicit Lyrics. It premieres on the network on October 19, at 10 p.m. EST.
Queens, created by Zahir McGhee, started as an hour-long pilot before ABC quickly picked it up and added it to their fall 2021 lineup. It follows four women in their ‘40s, who were once a part of a successful all-female ‘90s hip-hop band, now on a trek for a victory lap.
Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez are cast as Brandy’s former bandmates. Swizz Beatz is signed on as the executive music producer, while Sabrina Wind and Tim Story share the executive producer role with McGhee.
Aside from acting, music is still at the heart of Brandy. She just appeared on Tiwa Savage’s new song “Somebody’s Son.” She also collaborated with Gallant and Amorphous this year.
The living legend is using her imagination at Disney’s Ultimate Princess Celebration. She is there promoting her new original song, “Starting Now,” which soundtracks the celebration. The song’s companion video is expected to be released soon.
