You gotta love Beyoncé’s dedication to getting us on the dancefloor. The global star has teamed with music icon Madonna for “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix), recalling her co-star’s famed 1992 hit single “Vogue.” It marks their first collaboration.

At the onset of the ballroom track, Beyoncé deems herself the mother of her own house and seems to charge herself by the unprovoked hate thrown constantly in her direction.

When she isn’t settling the score with her haters, she takes a moment to shout out influential Black women, along with those in her sister circle, including Nina Simone, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Solange, Chlöe,  Aaliyah, Toni Braxton and more.

Beyoncé also name-checks several houses in ballroom culture, including House of Amazon, House of LaBeija, House of Revlon, House of Ninja, and House of Xtravaganza, among others.

A barrel of other remixes to “Break My Soul” recently were issued, including those reworked by producer/artist will.i.am, Chicago house DJ Terry Hunter, house producer/DJ Honey Dijon and DJ Nita Aviance.

“Break My Soul,” co-written and co-produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, serves as the current single from Beyoncé’s seventh album, Renaissance, which is out now. The 16-track album is the proper follow-up to 2016’s Lemonade.

Beyoncé has yet to release an official music video for “Break My Soul.” She did issue an official visualizer for the single that has garnered two million views, as well as a cliquebait clip featuring its audio.

In the latest issue of Billboard (Aug. 6, 2022), “Break My Soul” has reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
