Yuna inches closer to her next album Y5 with Y4, the fourth of five installments.
The set comprises three songs, including “Make Believe,” “Fool 4 U,” and “Relax Your Mind.” Speaking on the focus track “Fool 4 U,” Yuna said it came from “trying to write about heartbreak.”
During the writing and recording process, Yuna learned that there’s a “dilemma of wanting to be poetic about a personal struggle for the whole world to see/hear, but also at the same time still dealing with the heartbreak in real-time and having all these thoughts and insecurities while trying to be a functional artist.”
Yuna released a music video to accompany “Fool 4 U.” Like her previous music videos, her husband Adam Sinclair takes the director’s seat.
In conjunction with Y4, Yuna shares the release details for Y5. The complete album arrives Nov. 11.
“Making this album takes me back to that time when I was an independent artist making music in my bedroom in Malaysia,” says Yuna.
“I want to focus on making things that make me happy, instead of the things that make me stressed out. I want to find that balance. With this new album, I feel reborn as an artist.”
Yuna embarked on the road to Y5 when she debuted Y1 in March. She followed with Y2 in May and returned two months later with Y3.
Her new album will follow 2019’s Rouge. Released on Verve Forecast, the album featured appearances by Tyler, the Creator, G-Eazy, Masego and many more. It included the focus tracks “Blank Marquee” and “(Not) The Love of My Life.”
