Jon Vinyl has enlisted Kenyon Dixon for a remix to his current focus track, “Pressure.”
The remix has a dramatic upward tempo shift, giving it more of a hip-hop bounce than the original, heart-rending production.
Vinyl’s soul-searching verses stay intact, with Dixon wrenching every bit of suffering out of his body in the track’s second half.
“So this is what it feels like / No way this is real life,” sings a distraught Dixon.
“Pressure (Remix)” arrives four months after the original version was released as part of Vinyl’s 2022 EP, Palisade. The five-song project gained traction with its singles “Entice Me” and FTU.”
“This project really allowed me to regain internal awareness and ride the wave of emotions, rather than letting them control me. And I take those experiences straight to pen and paper,” Vinyl said of Palisade.
“It all came to life in the most perfect way possible through Palisade. At its core, this EP was made for people who feel.”

Vinyl supported Palisade as a special guest on Tone Stith’s Set The Tone Tour last fall. He plans to issue a deluxe edition of the Palisade sometime this year.
As for Dixon, the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter released his Closer album last spring and followed up later in the year with Closer (Deluxe). The album includes features from D Smoke, Tiffany Gouché, Susan Carol and Gwen Bunn.
Closer ranked No. 9 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022 list. Rated R&B’s Danielle Brissett wrote of the album, “Closer delivers a direct aural experience that’ll invigorate any true R&B fan.”
Dixon capped off 2022 with “Here (For Christmas),” a seasonal duet with Jade Novah.
