Chris Brown is bringing the heat to New Music Friday with his new track “Summer Too Hot.”
Brown co-wrote the track with Myjah Veira, Nasri Atweh, Toney Martinez, and the song’s producers Roccstar and Dstrk.
“Summer Too Hot” is an undeniable bop that is fueled by an ebullient production that hovers Brown’s charming voice. He gloats that he is the right man to douse any bedroom fire his undercover freak may have.
“Ooh, you’re so beautiful it’s hard to behave / Ooh, I can’t start this fire without your flame / Ooh, and I know you feel the same / Come on, take that shit off,” Brown sings in the bridge.
“Summer Too Hot” is Brown’s first proper single since his Wizkid-assisted single “Call Me Every Day, ” released from Breezy (Deluxe) in 2022.
The latter track reached No. 4 and No. 8 on the Hot R&B Songs and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts of Billboard, respectively.
In January, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the song as gold for selling 500,000 equivalent units before it won an NAACP Image Award.
Additionally, Brown’s latest single is his first release since announcing his intention to drop new music this summer. At that time, he revealed his upcoming 11th album would be titled soon. He also mentioned that it will contain fewer songs than his previous albums.
No release date for Brown’s next album has yet been announced.
Noted above, Brown released his tenth album Breezy (Deluxe) and its standard version last year.
Released on Chris Brown Entertainment/RCA Records, the LP tracked numerous accolades, including Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards.
Breezy (Deluxe) landed a 2023 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album, becoming the first male artist to achieve this nod with an extended version of an album.
Moreover, Breezy got Brown a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2023 BET Awards, set for Sunday, June 25. It’s Brown’s first time nominated in this category since its introduction in 2017.
Brown has been nominated for two other tracks, namely “WE (Warm Embrace)” and “Call Me Every Day.” Apart from these, he has also succeeded with his song “Under the Influence.”
The sleeper track topped the urban radio chart and received a platinum certification from the RIAA. The song was featured on his 2019 album, Indigo (Extended).
Collaboration has become the backbone of Brown’s recent studio output and chart achievements, appearing on songs by Vedo, Chlöe, Tank and Fridayy.

Finally, although Brown may have already lined up some famous faces for his upcoming album, producer Camper expressed to Rated R&B his desire for studio time to work on future music.
“My vision for CB is to fully executive produce an album on him that would shock and awe. [Just] real iconic music,” Camper exclusively told Rated R&B in an interview.
