Grammy winner Faith Evans has teamed with Queen of Bounce Big Freedia on her new song “Bitch You Want.”
With an addictive beat, Freedia claws at all competition by asserting her dominance while also attracting men who can’t resist her charm.
Evans is just as vicious with her lines, singing, “Baby, I am the bitch you want / So, why don’t you turn me on / While the night is young / Baby, we can go it on / I am the diva don / The only one / That chick, that chick / That bitch you want.”
“Bitch You Want” is part of Freedia’s latest album, Central City, which is her first album in nine years. It follows Just Be Free, released in 2014.
Central City includes the previously released tracks “$100 Bill” featuring Ciara and “Bigfoot.” It also includes collaborations with Lil Wayne, Kelly Price, Boyfriend, Kamaiyah, Sonyae, and The Soul Rebels.
“This album is like walking through the streets of New Orleans,” Freedia says of Central City. “From Josephine to Melpomene, to Calliope and Magnolia. To Second and D to Third and G, Central City is all the places in between. This is the sound of Uptown New Orleans. It’s the people, the food, the culture, and the music. It’s a mixture of Black history, with a little bit of French, and that voodoo that creates a unique gumbo. And everybody wants a taste.”
Last month, Evans and Eric Bellinger joined Slim of 112 for his new song “Gotta Have Faith.”
Before that, Evans worked together with Gwen Bunn on a song called “Between the Lines” and also released a solo track titled “Right Now” that features Big Knuck.
Although Evans put out the joint album, The King & I, in 2017 with archived vocals from the Notorious B.I.G., it has been almost nine years since she released a solo album.
In 2014, she released Incomparable, which features the singles “I Deserve It” with Missy Elliott and Sharaya J and “Fragile.”
Regarding the former song, Evans exclusively told Rated R&B, “It’s the perfect embodiment of being able to still maintain what people know you for and the era that you’re from — but not sound dated. That’s the best way I can put it, which is what I try do anyway.”
She added, “It states my claim from the gate, which is I’m not perfect but I’m worth it. You ain’t gotta be the best to roll with me but you gotta hold me down — the way I deserve.”
